What started around a fire with a few people willing to do life together has grown into something I never could have planned.
But the yes started long before the name.
I didn’t set out to start a ministry or build something called Rooted in the Yes.
I was simply learning, little by little, what it meant to follow Jesus when He asked me to move.
Some of those yeses were small. Others changed the direction of our lives. And if I’m being truthful, there were times I said yes willingly—and times I fought God every step of the way.
Looking back now, I can see that He was using all of it. The ordinary obedience. The uncomfortable stretching. The seasons I didn’t understand. The doors He opened and even the ones He closed.
Rooted in the Yes didn’t begin with a website, a Bible study, or even a name. It began with learning to trust God enough to say yes.
Learning to say yes
For a long time, I thought saying yes to God would look like the big things—the mission trip, the ministry opportunity, the moment when you knew without a doubt that He was calling you to something.
But God has been teaching me that a life of yes is usually built much more quietly than that.
It has been built in ordinary days. In opening our home. Around tables and campfires. In serving when it wasn’t convenient. In showing up for people. In going when God said go—and sometimes in staying when I wanted to move.
There have been beautiful yeses, and there have been costly ones. There have also been seasons when I didn’t understand what God was doing at all.
But over and over, He has shown me that the yes isn’t really about where He sends me. It’s about trusting the One asking.
What you’ll find here
This is a place for honest stories of faith, growth, surrender, serving, and finding God in the ordinary.
You’ll find stories from my own walk with Jesus, but I hope you’ll also find voices from the people God has placed around me. There will be stories from mission fields and around kitchen tables, lessons learned in hard seasons, practical ways to serve and gather people, and encouragement to grow deeper in your own walk with Christ.
Because I believe we were never meant to grow alone.
We need deep roots in Christ, but we also need people beside us—people who will pray with us, challenge us, encourage us, sit around the table with us, and walk with us through both the beautiful and the hard.
I don’t have all the answers, and this isn’t a place for people who have it all figured out. It’s simply a place to share what God is teaching us along the way—to become more deeply rooted in Him, to grow together in faith, and to be ready when He asks for our next yes.
